Happy Birthday Zach!

Today is Zach's 30th birthday!

Yowza!  I'm gonna be 30 in just over one year!  I just never imagined it. Anyway, he's taking it in much better stride than I will.

I had the day off today. I was going to spend it bugging him and just hanging out. But, his work ended up offering him too good of a deal and he had to go in.  I still took the day off and figured I'd spend it out shopping a little bit.  Then his car broke down. So he took mine. Therefore I've been stuck at home all day by myself.  I slept until NOON! ... 12PM!  I cannot remember the last time that happened.  Probably sometime in college. Maybe? I'm not a good lazy person (as much as Zach probably wouldn't believe it). I've always got to be doing something. I believe I get this from my dad, seriously, the man never sits. Anyway, after I finally drug myself out of bed I made his birthday brownies, took Missy on a long walk and watched a lot of crap tv.

Tomorrow we are having a bit of a shin dig for him up at Side Pockets with family and friends. Before that we'll be enjoying our recently flown in from Chicago, Giordano's stuffed pizza! Holy yum!

Perhaps I'll recap all the festivities on Sunday!

Till then - Happy Birthday Zach! LOVE YOU!!!!

It's still winter....

Oh, hello there blog!

I've been neglecting writing here.  I guess there's just not a whole lot going on to write about these days... I've got a mild case of the winter ho-hum's and I'm anxiously awaiting spring.  Judging by the snow falling outside right now, I'm guessing it's not coming anytime soon.  I just can't take much more of this grey and dreary.

I'm about 6 weeks out from my first 10K of the year. I had a good long run outside the other day so I think I'll definitely be ready.  I'd like to beat my hospital hill time from last year. It should be totally do-able as this course is pretty much totally flat.

Zach turns 30 next week! THIRTY!  That means I'm hot on the heels of the big 3-Oh myself. Although I still have the rest of 28 and all of 29 to go.  Meh. Blah. Getting old.  Not fun.

The pupperoni's are great! When it's not snowing our backyard turns into a complete swamp land, which means our carpet gets muddier by the second. So we are getting a patio poured first thing this spring. We just got back from the Home Show, and while it was pretty underwhelming compared to the one we went to 2 years ago, we picked up quite a few cards from pretty decent companies, so hopefully we can score a good deal.  We also need to grow some grass, that would help....

Anywhoo, just wanted to check in.  Back to my constant Winter Olympics watching....

I need to do more puzzles.

...because my mind is failing me.

I am having a particularly stressful day and wanted to get out of the office for a little bit over lunch. Since I won the parking pass for the month where can get back into the garage under my office whenever I want, I thought I'd run up to the Petco by my old apartment on North Oak. The dogs need food and there's a Sonic down the street where I could get a much needed Strawberry Limeade.

You would think after having lived up north for nearly three years and having driven up North Oak past said Petco EVERY SINGLE DAY for those three years that I'd remember how to get there. I mean, I only moved less than two years ago.

Nope.

I got out of the garage and totally forgot where to go. Broadway? Main Street? Grand? No clue. After ending up in a particularly sketchy part of the Rivermarket I turned around and came back to work. More stressed than when I left, without dog food and sans Strawberry Limeade.

Lunchtime fail.

Of course now I totally remember how to get there. Grand to that one street where I take a right and then a left over the bridge. Duh.

There's always tomorrow I guess.

Oh Hi!

Nothing really interesting has happened to update the ol' blog with.  Let's see.

-I made some horrible, awful, no good, very bad "low fat" banana bread. I'm not sure I've ever completely thrown out a baked good before, but one bite and I was done. EWWW!  I do not know what happened. It tasted like it was totally burnt to a crisp, but it was perfectly done. So weird. I got the recipe off "the internet" so I'm guessing that was the main problem, but the ingredients were all pretty standard. Maybe bad bananas?  I'm just glad I forgot to take the loaf to work for treat day like I had intended. Boy, that woulda been a bad one!

-The working out is going just fine.  I've still got a couple pounds left to lose, but I'm pretty comfortable and happy with where I'm at right now.  Summer will (hopefully) be right around the corner though, so I think I'll be stepping it up a few notches here soon.

-The puppies are good. Cute as all get out and calming way down (knock on wood). Oh sure they still have their crazy ass moments, but for the most part they are good company during the weeknights and goofy playmates during the weekends. We've even let Ted stay out of the kitchen when we go out for an hour or two and so far (knock on wood) nothing has happened.  Maybe they really do grow out of the bads after all!  Ted also got a new head collar, so taking him on walks is much more manageable. I still let Zach do that, but I think he'll be OK for me to walk by myself pretty soon here. He's a fast learner!

He's a dignified dude.

-Ted will be 1 and Missy will be 2 in about a month and a half (they were born exactly 1 year and 1 week apart). Zach and I are already planning their birthday party.  You think I'm kidding?!

-My mom had all her tests come back cancer free!!! BEST NEWS EVER!

-I made a pretty Valentine's Day cake. Ok, fine, it was a cake mix out of the box, but I made my own buttercream and it was delicious! I even colored it pink and used cute sprinkles.  I forgot to take a picture though.

-The next few weeks are pretty busy and I'm excited!

Till then.... :)
